Spring is In

We had a warm weather two weeks ago so Jay and I trooped to see the tulips at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Farm. It was amazing. Tulips are the most beautiful and elegant flowers for me. Love them!

weekend

My weekend was slow. Just dropped by at my new favorite store, Jcrew,to try on a few spring/summer clothes. Tried on because I don't want to pay full price all the time anymore. I want to be a savvy shopper. :)

I feel that the shorter ones are more flattering for my pear body but is there an unwritten rule that short shorts are not allowed at 30 and up? Hmmm....but if I will wear these only at theme parks or the beach, it should be okay, right? Either way, I will be patiently waiting for these shorts to be on sale. The navy top was cute, too but I decided to order it in key lime instead.
We also dropped by Ikea to pick up a few things and I was tempted to bring home a full-length mirror. Argghh, if only our home is a tad bigger...tsk tsk tsk.

A Wicked Night

The show was great. Elphaba and (handsome and charming)Fiyero were exactly the way I imagined them. I enjoyed the little inside jokes, especially those about Dorothy. Thanks, Kath for ,the tip to watch the old movie first.

Quick Update

I’m good, it’s just recently, I have been obsessing over losing weight.
In the last two weeks, I have accumulated fitness equipments. First, my ancient Ipod mini finally conked on me and I couldn’t run or brisk-walk on the treadmill without a loud fast music blasting in my ears so to get back in the groove I bought a red Ipod shuffle. And it’s so worth it. I just clipped it on my shirt and I was ready to go. No need for an armband. And the battery lasts forever. Second, I also bought a pair of 3-pound weights because I’m hoping to tone my arm muscles. (ambitious, no?). Third, a pink tennis racket. Jay and I have already played once and I could say that I wasn’t that bad. Fourth, a new pair of Nike sneakers courtesy of my husband. He got tired of me complaining about how my old sneakers don’t have cushion anymore so we visited every sports store in the area and finally decided on a pair of Air Pegasus 25 in gray and purple.
But of course, losing weight is not just about exercise. One has to keep a healthy diet too. My current diet plan is – low carbs (little or no rice, white bread) and a lot of fresh vegetables and fruits instead of processed and sweet snacks. I still cook ulam, but while Jay eats them with rice, I eat mine with vegetables and wrap. J
My new mantra: A moment on your lips, forever in your hips.

Finally

Well, technically, almost finally.

I’ve watched Return to Oz when I was younger and loved and cheered for Dorothy. I hated the wicked witch and her minions in skates. I can’t remember now if it’s the (green) Wicked Witch of the West or of the East or maybe a different one because WWW was supposed to have died at the end of Wizard of Oz, and WWE was killed when Dorothy landed on Oz.

Anyways, I learned about Wicked, the Broadway musical from my friend Kath. Found out that it’s based on a novel by Gregory Maguire so I bought a copy of the book and really enjoyed it. The WWW had a name and it’s Elphaba. And I learned about her - (not from the original creator/author of Oz books of course) her story, her passion, her admirable and intense fight for Animals, and even her affair with Fiyero. I wanted and planned to watch the musical but missed it four times – first the tour in SF(2005), the Broadway run when we went to NYC(2006) , the tour in Seattle, and then in January this year in SF which I was supposed to watch with Almira, Lai and Chel. So now that Wicked is coming to Portland, I will not dare miss it. Bought the tickets yesterday and we’re going on March 27! I was tempted not to take Jay with me because he went to a Blazer's game solo and he doesn't let me play my Wicked cd in the car but I was being a nice wifey and he'll buy dinner after the show, so he's coming. :)
